Archive for August, 2009

Hello, today is August 16th and today I want to share my knowledge  on the history of skateboarding. It all started back in the 50s and 60s in California, and was called “sidewalk surfing”. Originally, they made their skateboards out of scrap or plywood, and would attach roller blade wheels to the bottom of the wood they chose to use. The whole reason it started was because of surfers. Say the waves were flat that day, and they wanted to still get that thrill, what were they going to do? Well, they just rode their boards. It stayed the same way in the 70s, except, the urethane wheel was invented, and it revolutionized the sport. In this decade too, the skaters also started skating in pools, and the creation of concrete skateparks started happening as well.  The 80s also proved to help advance skateboarding, in which they style of skating switched from ramps to street, with such pros as Mike Vallely and Rodney Mullen.  The 90s were also a big turning point in skateboarding, in which the X games were invented and skateboarding popularity skyrocketed. Tricks were invented over the years, but the most important of all time was the flat-ground ollie. It put down the tracks for everything today, and without it, tricks today would be impossible. Take note, I left out a lot of specific names and dates in this brief history of the sport, but I felt people out there should be educated about the history of skateboarding, and without the surfers, there would be no skating, so thank you’re local surfers, if you have them, and spread your current knoledge with your friends and loved ones.

In Your Dreams!!!

Hello, today is August 11th, and I kinda like the way the date starts a post. Anyway, I saw a movie over the weekend, which was called Julie and Julia. I saw it with a friend and we we’re laughing so hard at some points we we’re crying. However, I would not recommend smaller children to see the movie, even though it was slapped with a PG-13 rating.  Some of the scenes were pretty provocative and there was some harsh language that crept up on me, even though it was pretty funny. Moving on, I’m still going to camp, which is going great, and seeing old old friends is even better. I know by the end of the summer I will have tons of stories to share with you guys. Here’s one:

I’m friends with some of the lifeguards, and one of them said they had a dream about me, and I asked him what it could possibly have been about. Apparently, we had to go to Piddzburgh, not Pittsburgh, Piddzburgh. However this place is in Canada, and we have to take a subway to get there. So, we miss our stop, and we have to jump out of the back of the subway, and run to our stop about 20 minutes back. However, we came across a barb-wire fence in the middle of the tracks and we couldn’t walk through it, so I said “if you believe” (Or something like that) and I walked right through the fence. And then he said he woke up.

Personally, I’d think that if someone had that long of a dream about me that drawn out, they would be a creeper. However, if you knew the lifeguard I’m talking about, you’d find this pretty normal. So, that’s all for now folks. Oh and before I go, I think I need a new way to say goodbye after every post. And, I will try to find a new topic every week to talk about, which would spice up the conversation. So that will be my next post. Talk to you soon.

Bizzaro and Loud Music

Hey everybody, today is August 8th, and I haven’t posted in a while. I’ll take you back all the way to Thursday of this week when I went to six flags. It was great, and I got to ride the bizzaro coaster which was great, except it was the same thing as the superman before it, except it just had more special effects (More Fog and even  flames). I also rode all the other big coasters there, which was really great. The next day, it was my last day of camp with one of my friends, because I was going to a different camp. He lives on the other side of the country, in the state of California. He showed me some great music that I know I’ll have on my ipod until I go deaf from listening to music too loud. Haha.

So then, today I went to a local state park to go swimming in a pool and just hang out with my mom. And, before I go, I just wanted to say that I will be experimenting with windows movie maker a lot more, so expect some videos from time to time. So long for now.

Fakie Big Spins and An Explanation

Alright, I am very excited because today I learned the fakie bigspin, which I have been trying to learn for a week now. What the trick is when you are riding fakie (backwards) and you spin the board 360 degrees or a full rotation while you do a 180 degree rotation. Anyway, so that was great, plus I told some of my friends about this site and were wondering why their names weren’t mentioned. Well, to be honest, the reason is because if you names go out on the internet, I don’t know what could happen, and there are people who can track you down, regardless how much info you provide. So, I was doing it for your safety, and you people know who you are. Anyway, I just wanted to say that I’m still skating, and I want people to be safe on the interwebz, because there are freaky people out there. Talk to you later.

And, I almost forgot, if you liked the dissapearing skateboard video, comments would be greatly appreciated,  thanks!
